Conversions

From nothing to something

Do you need room for an office or gym? Perhaps your young ones are growing up and you need a bigger bedroom? Or maybe you would like to earn more from the house that you own by renting out an available room? Maybe you simply want to maximise the value of your home.

With house prices in England and Wales continuing to rise and showing no signs of slowing down more and more people are turning to loft, basement and garage conversions to maximise their space and increase the value of their homes. A cellar or basement conversion can add a great deal of usable storage or living space to any property, not to mention value.

If you have a loft that’s empty or a garage full of old boxes and you need more room then a conversion could be the perfect solution. You can stay in your own home and it’s cheaper than building an extension.

We at Ziggy Renovations specialise in turning un-used spaces into an extended part of your home. We offer special solutions for your loft, basement, garage or even your conservatory. We can help you re-design any area tailored to suit your needs and style.

What it involves

Firstly after we have a one on one consultation and grasp exactly what you are trying to get out of your old space, we then plan together and agree upon the final look and feel we are trying to achieve. Most often conversion projects can include several if not all of the several factors:

  • New flooring whether it be stone such as marble or porcelain tiles, laminate floor or hardwood or maybe something soft such as vinyl or carpet. After the floor we then decide on inter-connecting options between the wall and floor such as skirtings, beading or tiles.

  • New lighting which may include just changing the current lights to something more fancy or completely re-wiring and re-positioning of the lights.

  • Heating and plumbing which may involve bringing in another radiator or switching the position of a current one, or maybe the conversion includes an en-suit? Then we would connect your existing pipe and waste network into your new area.

  • Re-positioning of current doors and door frames is a common enquiry to suit the new layout, and with a new layout comes new walls and demolishing of old ones.

  • Insulation to your new living space is vital and making sure that all walls and ceilings are insulated allows for your new space to feel warm and cosy, just like the rest of the house.

  • All work is carried out by professionals and with safety standards in place. We also provide any relevant certificates when carrying out electric, pluming and gas work.

What are your options

Basement ideas

Straightforward storage space is always an option, but the potential for basements is almost limitless. A bedroom or two is an obvious choice, with or without a bathroom, but others prefer an office. Many people choose to focus on entertainment space - playroom, games room, gym or spa, or all-round entertainment space for music, films and so on.

Garage ideas

You can be surprised what a new floor and sealed painted walls can do to your garage. Maybe you want to create an ideal space for your workshop where you can get get creative or maybe you would like to dedicate an area to be used as a home gym. Even better this could be used as an area of escape, playroom, man cave, you name the possibilities.

Loft ideas

If you currently cannot access the space in your loft because there is no floor, then the first obvious choice would be to board up the loft creating an immense amount of space ideal for storage, out of the way. But maybe your loft is already being used for storage and you are thinking of using that space for better use, then carrying out a conversion into a large room is the right choice for you. Your loft can be converted into another bedroom or a room for special use… home cinema, sun-bed room or simply an out of the way office where silence persists.

Conservatory

We are not a general building company and therefore do not undertake building a conservatory or extension from scratch, however we do specialise in modifying your existing conservatory and space into something brand new. Simply laying a new floor or designing a new wall with a different opening can make a big difference. Maybe you want your conservatory to bring in more light into the rest of the house? Lets open up the walls and brighten up your home.

If the money and space are available, then the possibilities are almost limitless. We can help you make the right choices to meet your needs, budget and space.
